Though the show has lived in syndication for the past three decades, “Beaver” never cracked the Top 25 series when it originally aired. Starring: Tony Dow, Barbara Billingsley, Hugh Beaumont, Jerry Mathers. The series aired from 1957 to 1958 on CBS and then moved to ABC in the fall of 1958, where it continued until Sept. He’d always turn on the charm when he came to the Cleaver house by saying, “Good evening, Mr. (Ward Cleaver worked for Lumpy’s dad.) Ken Osmond stole every scene he was in as the slick bully Eddie. Frank Bank played Wally’s rotund friend Clarence (Lumpy) Rutherford. Wally’s friends were a pretty strange bunch. Sue Randall joined the series in the second season as Miss Landers, whom she played until 1962. Leave it to Beaver, Universal City Backlot, Colonial Street. Diane Brewster played Beaver’s teacher, Miss Canfield, in the first season. Beaver develops a crush on her but his joy turns sour when she announces her engagement to Tom Brittingham. She remains his teacher for several seasons. Alice Landers (Sue Randall, Octo June 6, 1963) becomes Beavers third grade teacher in the second season, replacing Miss Canfield.
